Today was extremely boring. I only had a few things to do today since the baseball series was cancelled. I started out by writing in names on a form for a team that is receiving complimentary admission to the women's basketball game on Sunday. The odd thing about that though is that the form is an excel sheet that can be typed in. It blows my mind when they have me do this because it is simply a waste of time. Why do I need to write something when I or the team that is coming can type it much faster than I can write it? Technology really can make things simpler and this is one of those things.
Next, I had to do some calculations for the per diems that the student-athletes and staff members are receiving for the SEC basketball tournaments over the next couple of weeks. All I had to do was figure out the number of $50s, $20s, $10s, $5s, and $1 we needed to get out of the bank. Took me maybe 10 minutes.
The last thing I did was take stickers off the cups we give to baseball and softball season ticket holders. That took me about 30 minutes, but only because there were a lot of cups. It obviously isn't hard taking stickers off cups.
Days like this are frustrating for me. I honestly don't feel that my abilities are always being used to the extent that they could be. I knew there would be some grunt work involved in the internship (as there is with all internships), but much of the time that is all I do. I really feel that I could be doing something to actually contribute, but I'm not always being given the chance.
