Talk about a ghost town. I was literally the only person in the office today. I guess everyone else is still on vacation for the holidays. I still have my promotions list to work on so that kept me busy for some of the day, but it is starting to get quite redundant. There appears to be only so many different promotions out there and I think I found them all. Some may go by different names, but they are pretty much the same things all the other schools are doing. I assume it's because all the schools are compiling lists like these and instead of trying to come up with new ideas they are just recycling the same ones. I believe office hours are going to start being a little more involved next week because the different winter sports are going to be picking back up.
Given that I had quite a bit of free time today, I started reading one of the books I received for Christmas. How to Win at the Sport of Business by Mark Cuban has so far been rather interesting and I believe it will be quite insightful. I know Cuban can come off as brash sometimes, but the guy is obviously very successful. He is currently worth $2.7 billion and if he has something to say that may be beneficial to me, I have no problem reading it.
A cool thing that happened today is that I got to meet Christian Cantwell. For those of you that don't know, Cantwell went to school at the University of Missouri and he won the Silver Medal in the shot put at the 2008 Beijing Olympics and the Gold Medal in the shot put at the 2009 World Championships. It's pretty cool meeting someone that graduated from Mizzou and then went on to medal in the Olympics.
