Today was spent working on the contact list for the most academically improved kids that I talked about last Friday. I'm only doing 8 counties but it is an extremely long list. I've spent 3 or so hours on it now and I'm still going to have to work on it more on Friday. The good news is that I think I should be able to get it done on Friday unless they want me to do something else that day.
Since that is all I really have to say about today's work, I'm just going to give a general update on my experience so far. First off, I believe I've been doing quite well as I was named intern of the month for January. I work the most office hours by far and I work a ton of events as well so I'm just happy that my work is being recognized. It's not always easy balancing the internship with school and my full-time job, but I've made it work so far.
There are a few things that need to be updated around here that I would change. For one, I've been compiling a lot of lists for different things, but instead of having to start from scratch, these lists should already be compiled and just updated as time goes on. I really feel some of my time is wasted because I have to find information that should have been found in the past.
Something else I would change is the amount of hand-written paperwork. Some of the stuff that they want to be written is just odd. It can definitely be put in a PDF or something that can be filled out and then printed. It is something so easy, but it would save so much time.
