I had office hours from 2:30 to 5 today and it was pretty standard. A lot, and by that I mean nearly all, of people were out, and I assume it's because of the upcoming holiday. A couple people were also sick so I know where they are coming from. Since a lot of people were gone that left me with little to do so I worked on my baseball promotions list. I'm not sure how quickly the promotions for this season are going to be finalized, but I would think it would be soon since the season starts in February. It's a little more than two months before the first home game. I don't think that's much time especially if we have to have certain items made for giveaways.
As for the game, I'll go ahead and get it out of the way and tell you the Tigers beat the Skyhawks 74-65. Didn't get to watch a lot of it, but it's always good to get a win. Before the gates open we had several things we needed to get done. We had to get a bounce house set up, a create your own poster station set up, the unofficial visitor list ready to go, and our giveaways station ready to go. It was actually quite a bit of work in only about 45 minutes. After the gates open, I was put in charge of giving out tote bags to attendees that attended this game as well as the games versus SLU and SEMO. I was surprised at the amount of bags I gave away and the amount of people that showed up given the dreadful weather last night. Just goes to show you how much some people love their teams. It also helped that last night was our Columbia Public Schools night and students had a voucher for four free tickets. I believe quite a few showed up which was great.
There are some things that I think may need to change though. For one, I didn't receive any sort of credential. Luckily, I didn't need to go into any restricted areas last night, but that may not be the case in the future. It's going to be really hectic at a future event if I have to run around to find my supervisor so that I can get something when I could have gotten myself simply by having a pass.
