It was the same basic stuff today to start with. I got to work and everyone was busy so I decided I just get started on updating my promotions list. Given that it is now finals week at Mizzou and Christmas break is coming up quick I think that may be one of my main priorities for the foreseeable future. I may be wrong though.
Eventually I was given another task and that was to determine volleyball admission prices among the top 25 teams in terms of attendance based on whether or not they made the NCAA tournament. We are trying to decide if we want to make volleyball admission free at Mizzou starting next season so this list is going to help with that decision. It didn't take me long to complete, but I still felt good about my work since it is going to be vital to the decision.
On another positive note, everyone I'm working with is great. Megan, my supervisor, is awesome and is bending over backwards to help me with this experience. Michael Gett, another Assistant Director of Marketing, is also great. We've been talking a lot over the last couple days and he seems like he is going to be a great resource as well. I've also had a couple people ask me what I want to do after I graduate and I've told them I obviously want to work in athletics and Mizzou would definitely be ideal. That doesn't necessarily mean it will lead anywhere, but I'm happy that these people are taking an interest in what I want to do. I don't see how that can hurt.
The building I'm primarily working in is pretty cool as well. The office I'm in overlooks the indoor track facility so I can sometimes watch the track athletes practice. It's pretty cool to see them practicing their throws, sprints, jumps, etc. I ran track in high school, but our organized practices were nothing compared to what these athletes are doing on their own time. I think I've only seen one athlete working with a coach so far, so you definitely tell they want to be the best they can be if they're practicing this hard by themselves.
