My primary duties today were tied to gymnastics, but instead of going to office hours before the gymnastics meet I went to the baseball game. To be honest, I'm not exactly sure why Megan had me go help with baseball for office hours since there was nothing for me to do. I can only guess she wanted me to get an idea of what is going on since I will be working the baseball game on Sunday.
After I left baseball I went to the gymnastics meet which is what I was scheduled to work in the first place. It was our "Pink Out" meet and we gave out pink t-shirts to the first 1000 fans and pink rally towels to the first 750 fans. I believe we had well over 1000 people which is definitely the most I've witnessed in the few meets I have worked. It seems that from talking to other people this was by far the most they had seen as well.
I actually didn't have too many duties during this meet, but my main duty was pretty important. Myself and another intern were in charge of running our apparel sale to benefit the local cancer center. We were swamped pretty much the entire time. I think I was only able to watch two gymnasts do their events. All the other time I was running the apparel sale. It went great and we raised around $1400 that will be donated to the cancer center.
We also had autographs after the meet so I had to get that set up as well and decided the best place to put it would be right by the apparel sale. All the people that wanted autographs had to walk by the sale and we had quite a few people buy stuff while they were waiting in line. I thought it was an awesome idea and so did Michael (Assistant Director of Marketing).
The bad news about the day is that neither the baseball team nor the gymnastics team won. Baseball lost 7-4 and gymnastics lost 197.350-195.275.
