I started out today by finishing the flyers I started on Monday. I was actually kind of mad that more hadn't been done by other interns since Monday, but Schuster helped me today so it didn't take nearly as long. We ended up with 2010 flyers that are going to be giving to local little league baseball and softball teams. I asked Schuster what was the purpose in the flyers and he said he wasn't sure because they hadn't done them in the past. He just wanted to send an email to the local teams and tell them what could happen, but the lady that organized everything wanted the flyers. We got it done quick so I guess it wasn't that big of a deal.
After we finished that Schuster sat down with me and we went over the scripts that are used for softball games. He had the ones for this weekend done so he wanted me to update them for our upcoming games against Saint Louis University and Northern Iowa. I have posted the Saint Louis University script in the projects section. The scripts really aren't that difficult since much of it can stay exactly the same throughout the season, but you have to be sure to change the little things because some PA announcers will read the script word for word without even thinking about what they are saying. For instance, we had to change "tonight" to "today" a few times throughout the script. We definitely changed a lot more than that, but that example just shows how little some of the changes can be. After I finished the SLU script I read through it and made some marks and changes. Schuster will obviously have the final say in what is used because he is the marketing person in charge of softball, but I think my changes were warranted. I plan on finishing the Northern Iowa scripts on Friday, but that may change.
