Today was excruciatingly slow. I had office hours and there wasn't a lot to do. I started out by finishing the Truman Club email list. That took about an hour, but after that it was crazy slow. Since it was slow and I don't have much to say about it I guess I can give an update as to how I'm faring overall so far.
I think I'm being trusted more and more each day. It hasn't necessarily shown up in my office hour duties since that time is typically grunt work, but each event I seem to be in charge of something. It isn't always a big thing, but it's nice being trusted like that. I'm glad my hard work is paying off.
I've learned a lot of new stuff so far. I've only had a few marketing courses here and there throughout my academic career so this is all still very new to me. I've learned a lot about what it takes to run the marketing side of an event. I haven't learned a lot about the marketing we do outside of events, but it may come in time.
One thing that definitely needs to be improved is the attitude of the marketing employee that takes care of wrestling. As I've written about before, he can become a bit crazy when a wrestling event is going on. He needs to pay attention to what the others act like and try to emulate them because they are all as calm as can be during events. He seems to want to micromanage everything and that definitely isn't a good thing most of the time. By acting the way he does he can put off the other employees and interns and that isn't good for the athletic department.
