Today was good. I started with office hours and those went by pretty slow because there wasn't much to do besides work on the email list I wrote about on Wednesday. It's very time consuming work and I think I'm up to over 300 emails so far. That's probably only about half.
After office hours I had the wrestling match vs. Oklahoma State. The atmosphere was simply incredible. I don't think we've had that many people show up in a long long time. It probably had something to do with the fact that Mizzou wrestling is ranked #3 and Oklahoma State is ranked #7. We also had an autograph session after the match so that probably enticed some little kids to want to come out and watch.
It was pretty hectic making sure everything was good to go for this thing. We first had to set up the bounce house which is always a chore. Luckily, I didn't have to run it tonight. The girl that did only had about 5 kids in the entire hour it was open. My responsibility before the match started was walking around and making sure our tables at the West and East entrances were good to go. I didn't really have to do too much with that though until later.
When the match began I didn't have too much to do except make sure our cheerleaders got the t-shirt they needed to toss if we won a match. Since we won the majority of the matches we gave out quite a few free t-shirts.
After intermission another intern and I were running around trying to straighten up the tables from earlier (they were a disaster) and get the autograph area ready to go. We had to find more posters, markers, and schedule cards to put at all the different areas. We were basically running around the arena to make sure we could get everything the way it needed to be.
The bad thing about wrestling is that the marketing employee in charge of running wrestling events gets extremely stressed and can kind of flip out. I could understand if it was simply last night because it was a huge meet, but it has become a trend. He really needs to calm down because nobody is going to want to work with him if he doesn't. There were a couple other full-time marketing employees there last night so they got to see what he can be like and one of them wasn't very happy.
On the positive side, Mizzou wrestling is still undefeated! After last night's win over the Cowboys by the score of 22-10, the Tigers are 16-0 on the season. Mizzou is looking to extend it's winning streak and continue it's outstanding season on Sunday when it takes on Northern Illinois.
