Well, today was basically useless when it came to applying anything I've learned to my experience. I started out today by getting some flyers ready. The flyers are to pass out to students to try to get them to come to the gymnastics meets on Friday. It really is a shame that hardly any students come because those meets are actually kind of fun. We're even giving free t-shirts to the first 75 students and even that won't draw too many in.
After I got done with that I cleaned the intern work area. Mizzou hired a new athletic director today (Mack Rhoades from Houston) and he is supposed to be introduced tomorrow. As a result the people in the marketing office were talking that he may stop by the offices. They wanted me to clean the area just in case he does stop by. I understand wanting to make a good impression on the new boss, but it's days like today where I feel I'm not being utilized in ways that can truly benefit the department.
I just have to remind myself that this is the type of grunt work associated with being an intern. If someone else in the office doesn't want to do it then it normally gets passed down to an intern who doesn't have a say in the matter. I know why I have to do it, but it doesn't make it any easier for me. I want to complete projects that will actually benefit myself and Mizzou athletics.
