Today was my last day and boy was it a day. The actual game was the easiest part although there was something a bit intimidating which I will discuss more later. The fun stuff (and the majority of the day) was before the game started.
We actually held a fan fest before the game and we had food trucks, a live band, a mini carnival, pictures with cheerleaders and Golden Girls, pictures with the SEC East trophy and the citrus bowl trophy, pictures with out Mizzou Fire Truck, and picture in our Mizzou helmet car. I think it worked out well because there were tons of people that showed up. Now, I'm not sure all of them went to the spring game which I believe was the intention, but it was still nice getting all those people to come out. At least some of them went to the game. It got kind of hectic at times because there were tons of little kids and it was kind of hard to control them at times. It was still good though because we provided the fans something they could do before the game.
After all that got done and we got it put away we headed over to the spring game where I had to assist in lining up the 2014 team seniors to be recognized at halftime. Now, this is where the intimidating part comes in. Being about 5'10' and 175 pounds it can be somewhat difficult to tell a 6'5", 315 pound offensive lineman to stop talking with his buddies and line up where he needs to be. We got it done though and although the full-time marketing staff member didn't radio up the people that weren't there, it still went pretty good.
Although I was a bit disappointed I didn't get to do more with the actual game it was still a good time. I'm done with events and I'm sure more than ever that I want to work in sports. It may not be in marketing (although I don't think I'd mind), but I definitely want to work in this industry. I'll write more about this in my final reflections post on Monday.
